Programs

EARLY DEVELOPMENT IS FUNDAMENTAL TO THE GROWTH OF YOUR CHILD
The Preschool at Riva Trace believes in fostering child growth and learning in a developmentally appropriate environment.  We are a faith-based program dedicated to providing accessible and affordable education in a loving and nurturing setting.  Our goal is to assist every child in developing academically, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. The Kindergarten at Riva Trace furthers these goals by offering a program that provides an excellent academic foundation for children who will transition to public or private school, while continuing to foster emotion, social, and spiritual growth.

CURRICULUM
We use curricula that are flexible and which exceed state standards. Our 2 Year Old Program utilizes the Mother Goose Time curriculum. Our 3s-PreK use a curriculum from the Mississippi State University Early Childhood Institute. Our Kindergarten has chosen to use Abeka. We chose these curricula because they meet or exceed the criteria for children going on to Anne Arundel County Public Schools. The activities are divided into thematic units, with weekly schedules and ideas for indoor and outdoor learning and play. These include skills, or “competencies,” in five major areas: language, math and reasoning, scientific understanding, social and emotional development, and physical development.

We have an Early Literacy Specialist who works with our teachers to help keep children challenged and learning in addition to what is taught learned in class. She focuses specifically on children in our 4s, PreK and Kindergarten programs.

We also utilize The Gospel Project Biblical Curriculum. The Gospel Project takes students on a chronological journey through God’s big story—the story of redemption woven through Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation. When students truly experience the gospel they are forever changed. It is the gospel, not good behavior, which transforms hearts. The gospel changes everything. The entire curriculum is constructed to meet your preschoolers where they are cognitively, spiritually, physically, emotionally and socially. Through age appropriate activities, preschoolers are building their spiritual foundation so that by the time they graduate to Elementary Education they know these three basic truths:

  • God Made Me
  • God Loves Me
  • Jesus Wants To Be My Friend Forever

MUSIC, ART AND MORE!
The Preschool at Riva Trace and the Kindergarten at Riva Trace will provide a fun and creative environment where children can learn about music and art.  We will help children explore how to express their talents through music, creative movement and art. Each class has planned learning activities that are age appropriate for your child.  These opportunities include both active and quiet play as well as indoor and outdoor activities.  We will also help them to understand how these can be an expression of praise and worship to God!
